Million Date Palm Plantation Project

The Million Date Palm Plantation Project is one of the biggest leading projects in the Sultanate. This is due to the offshoots that shall enhance the country’s economic growth, social development and environmental awareness.Most importantly, enhancing the role of date palm in the agriculture sector to keep pace with the future requirements and the social needs.

The Million Date Palm Plantation Project has 11 farms so far that are spread in different regions of the Sultanate, such as, Ibri, Nizwa, Al safa, Rahab and much more. Each of these farms are homes to between 10 to 100 thousand palm trees.

At Nakheel, we believe that innovation is the most important factor to modern agriculture practices. We have adopted the concept of “smart farming” utilizing smart technology and robotics innovation such as flying drones during the date palm pollination cycle. These new advancements in technologies ranging from robotics and drones to computer vision software have completely transformed the modern agriculture practices. Our primary goal in adopting such practices is to expand our coverage and take over mundane tasks.

Nizwa farm

Al Dakhiliyah Governorate Farms

Nizwa farm is located at Wilayat Nizwa at Al Fatth Village of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The farm area is 1.5 Km2. It will contain 25,000 date palms including 1000 male date trees.

Ibri farm

Al Dahira Governorate Farms

Ibri farm is located in WilayatIbri, AlDahira Governorate. The farm area is approximately 3 Km2. All agricultural work have been completed with 11,000 date palm distributed between 4 varieties of Dates, these are, Fard , 6768 tree, khalas 3318, Majdool (also called majhool) 450 tree, and male date trees of 464.

Samail farm

Al Dakhiliyah Governorate Farms

Samail farm is located along Muscat – Nizwa road in WilayatSamail at Al Houb village of Al DakhiliyahGovernorate. The farm area is 1 Km2. The total number of trees to be planted is 10,000 date palmsincluding 400 male date trees.

Ibra farm

Northern Al Sharqiyah Governorate Farms

Ibra farm is located at WilayatIbra of Al Northern Al Sharqiyah Governorate. The farm area is 2.5 Km2. It contains 10,000 date palms including 400 male date trees.

Al Kamil wal Wafi farm

Southern Al Sharqiyah Governorate Farms

The farm is located in Wilayat Al Kamil in Southern Al Sharqiyah Governorate. The groundwater is the main source for irrigation supply. The farm will be cultivated with 100,000 date palms including 4000 male date trees. The farm area is 8.2 Km2.

Al Safa farm

Al Dahira Governorate Farms

Al Safa farm is located in wilyatIbri ,AlDahira Governorate. It depends on groundwater for irrigation through ten drilled wells. The farm area is 12Km2 and will be planted with 1,00,000 date palms on completion, in which 4000 male date trees.

Masrooq is located adjacent to the road extend from Oman to the border of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Masrooq is part of Wilayat Ibri, Al Dahira Governorate.The farm depends on groundwater for irrigation of about 100,000 date palms including 4000 male date trees. The farm area is 10Km2.

Al Buraimi Governorate Farms

Al Qabil Farm is located in Wilayat Al Sunainah in Al Burimi Governorate. The farm depends on groundwater for irrigation supplies for 50,000 date palms including 2000 male date trees. The total area of the farm is 6Km2.

Al Wagan farm

Al Wegan Farm is located in Wilayat Al Sunainah in Al Burimi Governorate. The farm depends on groundwater for irrigation supplies for 50,000 date palms including 2000 male date trees. The total area of the farm is 6 Km2.

Rehab farm

Dofhar Governorate Farms

Rehab Village, is part of wilayatSheleem in Dhofar Governorate. Rahab have its name from the village where it is located. The area of the farm is 5Km2 and will includes 55,000 date palms including 2200 male date trees.

Al Najad farm

Qitibit is located in Wilayat Maqshan in Dhofar Governorate. The groundwater is themain source for irrigation supply. The farm will be cultivated with 100,000 date palms up on completion. The farm area is 12 Km2 and will be planted with 100,000 date palms including 4000 male date trees.
